This monograph collects recent works on paper and is published on the occasion of ‘Carlos Fragoso: Age of Foolishness’ at Jason McCoy Gallery, September 18 - November 1, 2019. A counterpart to Fragoso’s ‘Age of Foolishness’ ( 2012) which drew it’s name from Charles Dickens’ famous novel, ‘Los Olvidados’ marks the continuation of Fragoso’s contemplation and includes an essay by Stephanie Buhmann:
“So much has changed since the days leading to the French Revolution, which had been Dickens’ subject in 1959, and yet, the human condition, our state of consciousness, the back and forth between reflections of the best that our species is capable of and the worst it can succumb to, has not. Fragoso points this out, albeit not didactically, but metaphorically…he presents us with creatures, part human, part animal, trapped in their uncertainty but with all the potential in the world still intact.”
